Don’t get me wrong—I have nothing against Bermuda shorts. Lately, I’ve seen some incredibly stylish outfits featuring them, and on the right person, they look amazing. But on me? Not so much. At 5’4″, I know I’m on the shorter side, but I’ve seen plenty of petite fashionistas totally rock the look. Unfortunately, I just can’t seem to make them work for me. They hit me at an awkward length and throw off my proportions in all the wrong ways.

So, rather than force a trend that doesn’t flatter me, I’ve shifted gears. This summer, I’m exploring other bottoms—think a mix of relaxed trousers, tailored shorts, and breezy culottes—that are just as stylish, but far more wearable (at least for me). The good news? There are plenty of chic alternatives out there that don’t compromise on comfort or cool factor.
